We are searching for the perfect person to "open their mouth wide" to help a graduated dental/dental hygiene student to become licensed in FL. Each student is required to take a patient with specific dental conditions to the clinical examination site, usually a 2-4 hour drive from Orlando, depending on the students' assigned location. Those who wish to participate as the clinical patient for the dental/dental hygiene student(s) need to fit into all the categories noted below, prior to dental screening event:
What to Expect
Entry Level Qualifications-
- Would like a free dental exam, free x-rays, free dental cleaning, free travel accommodations, $200.
- Must be between age 18-55
- Have not had teeth professionally cleaned in 3-10 years
- Have two molars touching each other in each corner of mouth
- Must be comfortable with multiple dental professionals performing oral inspections
- Must be able/willing to attend multiple appointments for student to prepare data required prior to clinical examination date and have punctual attendance
- Must be able/willing to travel with student to clinical site (usually a combination of two consecutive days of Thursday-Friday, Friday-Saturday, Saturday-Sunday, or Sunday-Monday) on specific scheduled dates. Each student is assigned a non-negotiable date and time of exam so compliance of the student & patient is critical.
Screening Level Qualifications-
First dental screening for:
- Visual assessment of mouth, face, jaw & neck
- Gingival (gum tissue) assessment
- Dental debris/deposit evaluation
- Oral Hygiene Instruction
If collected data proves participants' oral conditions DO NOT qualify for the student requirements then the participant will receive:
- Documentation of the assessment
- A referral for needed treatment
- Dental aids to improve home care, and
- A dismissal as a potential patient
If collected data proves participants' oral conditions have a High Chance of qualifying for the student requirements, they will receive:
- Documentation of the assessment
- A referral for treatment needed
- Dental aids to improve home care, and
- A copy of responsibilities/duties as a participant
- If the participant can comply to identified duties, then they will progress to the second appointment as a "Pre- Qualifying Participant"
Pre-Qualifying Participant Level-
First dental office appointment for:
- Free Dental Exam by FL Licensed Dentist
- Free Dental X-rays (Full Mouth Series=18 images)
- Student/Patient Documentation of Required Forms
If collected data proves participants' oral conditions DO NOT qualify for the student requirements then the participant will receive:
- Documentation of the exam
- A copy of the treatment Plan
- A copy of the x-rays, and
- A dismissal as a potential patient
If collected data proves participants' oral conditions DO qualify for the student requirements, then the participant will receive:
- An Official Participant Agreement for signature
- An orientation to comply to all areas in the Agreement
- A notice of assigned student examination date
- Progression to the third appointment as a "Qualifying Participant"
Qualifying Participant Level-
Patient will have an "all-expense paid" travel experience to the scheduled exam site. The student will provide the following accommodations for the participant:
- Transportation by car or plane (depending on site location)
- Your own hotel room
- Food/Snack Allowance
Third dental appointment at Examination Site Location
- Student will clean ¼ of your mouth for the test requirements and each step is graded and confirmed by 3 dental examiners. The process traditionally lasts between 4-6 hours
- Upon return from the clinical exam, the patient will receive $200 cash for a job well done.
Fourth dental appointment for:
- If you have another part of your mouth that still qualifies for a student, you can request to be a participant for another student and earn another $200.
- If you complete your agreement and wish to finish with a traditional cleaning, a licensed hygienist will clean the remaining ¾ of your mouth.
